UGANDA HUNTING SAFARIS

Almost all Parks in the world have hunting concessions next to them. In Africa this is becoming more and more essential in the management of wild animals. The parks are not fenced, thus the animals freely roam out of the parks. The people that surround the parks are usually on a subsistence economy, where the worry of the next meal is a constant threat to their familes.

The Safari Hunter pays considerable fees to the government, the outfitter and the local people for the right to hunt. Suddenly the wildlife that surrounds the local village is more valuable than the cattle and goats. And when a trophy hunter takes the animal, the villagers gets the meat and a part of the trophy fee. Pure capitalism takes over and the villagers now want to protect the wildlife as a valuable resource to them personally. There are too few trophy hunters to impact wildlife populations, it is the person hunting for meat to eat or sell, that bring animals to extinction

This is the only way that wildlife can be protected in the future. Human population numbers are exploding in Africa. The need for land and food far out stretch the need to protect wildlife. However if wildlife becomes a valuable resource it can sustain itself for future generations.

Our hunting safaris take place in southern Uganda, just outside and south of Lake Mburo National Park. The concession area is 50 square kilometers cattle ranch (12,355 acres).
