SOUTHERN SUDAN BOMA NATIONAL PARK & CULTURAL SAFARI 

Day 1: Arrive Juba International Airport on Kenya Airlines flight from Nairobi at 920am or on Air Uganda flight from Entebbe at 915am, gather your luggage and pass through customs and immigration. We will be waiting outside with a sign that says "Bahr El Jebel Safaris". With some help with porters we will then walk you down the airport tarmac to a Yunshuji-12 IV STOL aircraft for your 1.5 hour flight to Nyat within Boma National Park. You will fly across Boma National Park enroute to Nyat where our tented safari camp is located. You arrive in time for lunch. A group finishing their safaris then boards the aircraft for the flight back to Juba. You need not use the above flights with Kenya Airlines and can arrive a day before or depart a day later if desired. See below hotel packages for one night in Juba.

 Days 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11: On safari in Boma National Park searching for wildlife by 4x4 vehicle and on foot. Some animals have been radio-collared and we will use these to find certain herds. There are traditional villages south of Nyat that will be visited on some days. All nights in our tented safari camp, with cot beds, full field kitchen with our chef who is famous for his fresh breads, ice makers, bottled water, dining areas, tables, chairs, latrins, laundry, daily maid service, battery chargers for your cameras, SAT phone, lanterns and enclosed safari showers. Supplies are trucked into the camp from Juba monthly.

Day 12: The Yunshuji-12 IV aircraft will depart the Nyat airstrip about noon for a 1.5 hour flight back to Juba for your flight departure at 3:15 pm on Kenya Airlines back to Nairobi or at 6:00 pm on Air Uganda back to Entebbe.

17 seat Yunshuji-12 IV Two Engine Prop-jet used to fly you between Juba and Nyat. We only use 10 seats of this STOL aircraft due to the runway at Nyat being 600 meters long.

The wet season is early April to late October making safaris by road impossible To Boma National Park. The roads become impassable due to mud. However to the South of Juba at Nimule National Park (where the roads have been rebuilt) we do offer safaris all year. See the Nimule National Park page of this web site.

Single supplement $300 usd (if you want a single tent)

       

Package Includes:

  • all meals once you arrive in Nyat. (First meal lunch day 1 and last meal lunch day 12)
  • all accomodations upon arrival in Nyat, a comfortable mobile tented camp- The tented mobile camp consists of individual tents with cot and sleeping pad, sheets & pillows, field kitchen with cook, tables, chairs, portable shower and latrine, ice chests of cold drinks, bottled water trucked in, ice makers, daily maid service, perishable foods trucked in from Juba and charger for your camera battery. Satillite phone for urgent calls.
  • Round trip flight in Yunshuji-12 IV aircraft between Juba and Nyat (you are limited to a total of 20 kilos of carry-on and luggage on this aircraft)
  • Bottled water, coffee, tea, sodas

Not Included:

  • Airfare to Juba (see our page on this subject in this web site)
  • Southern Sudan Visa (see our page on this subject in this web site)
  • Liquor (there will be a mobile bar in camp -on our safari reservation form indicate drink preferences and we will attempt to truck it into the camp ahead of your safari, given time and notice)
  • Any health expenses for illness or accident including malaria prevention, yellow fever innoculation, hospitalization, doctor consultations, emergency evacuation costs. Check with your health insurance if you are covered while traveling, if not we recommend you obtain health insurance while you are in Southern Sudan
  • Any costs for delays caused by airlines, weather, political occurences or aircraft. If the charter aircraft is delayed due to weather you should be prepared to pay for a hotel stay in Juba.
  • Fuel surcharge - the safari price is based upon 1.78 usd per liter of jet fuel. Any increase will be divided by the number of clients on the safari. Diesel for the vehicles used in the park is based upon 1.43 usd per liter. The surcharge (if necessary) will be limited to a maximum of $30 usd or less per client. All fuel is trucked overland to Juba from Mombasa on the Kenyan coast and there has been a steady, unpredictable, increase in cost.
